Wildness is my Necessity
A few months ago I told you I was getting excited for our vacation.
IT IS HERE!
The time has come to overload The Simple Man Van (TSMV as we call it) and head West.

Let’s get outta here! Going on a vacation.
Let’s have some FUN!
When visiting TheSimpleManStore.com, did you ever notice the section called FUN? It’s the place on the website where we put the really unique (and likely naughty-word) gift items.
We call it FUN because, well that’s simple. But I also decided to name it this because the process for how we choose these items is pretty enjoyable too.

Jesse Savage – The Blacksmith
As many of you know who have followed us for some time, our focus has always been to find unique makers, those with a passion for their craft and a dedication to quality. The more hand-made, one-of-a-kind products I can find, the better.
Many of you also know, sharing information on those makers is as important to me as the particulars of the item itself. I believe that knowing more about that artist, his/her concept and process makes a stronger affinity with their brand and you find a greater value in your selection.
Let’s make it simple.
There has been a lot on our shoulders and our mind. If you are like me, the word of December 2020 is: FATIGUED.
It may not be the holiday you want, with a house filled with friends and family - parties, dancing, catered events. But that’s ok.
We’ve been training for this.
We’ve been training for this.
It’s go time.
You can sleep in January.
These are all things I’ve said to myself the past few days. And many of you, in whatever profession you’re in, be it an accountant in the 1st quarter, a football coach in the fall, or lawn care guy all summer long, you know what I’m talking about.
Fall
Fall.
Tons of leaves in the yard I have to deal with.
(I’m really not complaining….I am blessed to have a home with big trees).
Strike that. You know what?
Tons of leaves in the yard that the KIDS have to deal with (that’s what kids are for right?).

It is time to feature another “Simple Man”, and I decided to feature one of our favorite customers. Kurt is one that has supported us from the beginning and he totally gets what I had as a primary vision for this store – to create a space where you can just come and hang out. Kurt walks in, sits in the leather chair, and we can talk for hours.
National Parks – My Happy Place
Yeah, this sucks.
Our 12-year-old, Nowell, says this a lot. Aside from my dislike of the inappropriate language, I admit I have to agree with him. It’s been four months since the ‘world stopped’ and doesn’t look to really be getting better. I’m sick of it. You are sick of it. To bring a little levity, I thought I might share a few of the items I think might fit the mood well.
